Central Baptist Church - “A church at the heart of the city, with the city at our heart!”

YA (Young Adults)

YA was established in CBC in September 2009 with the purpose to help meet the spiritual needs of those within the church in the 17-25 year age range, reaching both students and non-students alike. The Young Adults ministry grew out of what was originally the Student Ministry and therefore all our ministry activities run during university term-time.

Aim…?

Our vision as a team is to help those who are part of this ministry to:

grow in Christ and in spiritual maturity

be firmly established in faith and doctrine

passionately embrace and pursue a God-centered vision for their lives

meaningfully engage in study, prayer and ministry

apply a biblical vision of manhood and womanhood to their lives

live courageously in the world even under pressure to conform

effectively engage the culture for the sake of the Gospel

We believe that this an extremely significant and crucial part of their lives and our desire is to help them become grounded in their faith and built up in Christ, encouraging them to make disciples and serve the body of Christ in the local and wider context.

What we do…?

Inductive Bible Study

We meet every Thursday evening from 7.30pm for an inductive bible study. This involves looking at a particular book of the bible and studying it with the aim of teaching these young adults how to feed themselves spiritually from the word of God.

Last semester we studied the book of Ephesians and this semester we will be studying Peter’s epistles. These have been times of great encouragement and discussion

YAfter8

We meet every Sunday evening after the church service in the lower hall (the Link) for refreshments. This includes various themed nights from Wii nights to sermon discussion nights or just simply hanging out over a cup a coffee and some snacks. This is not only to help build relationships amongst the young adults within the church but also to help those who are new to feel very welcome – and believe me you are!!!

Lunches…?

On the first Sunday of the month we have a lunch for all young adults who wish to attend. This is a means to facilitate fellowship and provide for those who are perhaps either starting out in student life or the world of work - obviously with some ever-popular free food – so bring your mates! Three times a year we also have host families who invite students into their homes for some proper home nosh, comfort and chat!

Who we are…?

We have a dedicated team of committed leaders and their hard work and effort is greatly appreciated. We are from all walks of life and we are here to help you feel that you too are part of the CBC family. You will find us gathered and scattered throughout the church fellowship and obviously in the various aspects of the YA ministry.
