Central Baptist Church - “A church at the heart of the city, with the city at our heart!”

YASM (Young Adults and Students Ministry)

YASM was established in CBC in September 2009 with the purpose to help meet the spiritual needs of those within the church in the 17-25 year age range, reaching both students and non-students alike. Given that most of those attending are students the ministries run during university term-time.

Aim…?

Our vision as a team is to help those who are part of this ministry to:

grow in Christ and in spiritual maturity

be firmly established in faith and doctrine

passionately embrace and pursue a God-centered vision for their lives

meaningfully engage in study, prayer and ministry

apply a biblical vision of manhood and womanhood to their lives

live courageously in the world even under pressure to conform

effectively engage the culture for the sake of the Gospel

We believe that this an extremely significant and crucial part of their lives and our desire is to help them become grounded in their faith and built up in Christ, encouraging them to make disciples and serve the body of Christ in the local and wider context.

What we do…?

Bible Study

We meet every Thursday evening from 7.30pm for an informal time of chat and discussion. In the past we have studied various books of the bible using the inductive Bible study method and last year we went through  "The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus" which seeks to explain the greatest Bible themes clearly, logically and chronologically. In the coming year we will be working our way through a book called Radical Together by David Platt, starting in October.

YAfter8

We meet every Sunday evening after the church service in the lower hall (the Link) for refreshments. This includes various themed nights from Wii nights to sermon discussion nights or just simply hanging out over a cup a coffee and some snacks. This is not only to help build relationships amongst the young adults within the church but also to help those who are new to feel very welcome – and believe me you are!!!

Lunches…?

We intend to have a lunch for all young adults and students who wish to attend on first Sunday of the month starting in October followed by a movie. This is a means to facilitate fellowship and provide for those who are perhaps either starting out in student life or the world of work - obviously with some ever-popular free food – so bring your mates!

Host Families

We at CBC are delighted to offer hospitality to all our "YASM 'ers". Please fill out a contact form and we will place you with one our CBC members who are known to bless many of our students with some of the home comforts that are often absent during life as a student!  Twice a year our host families invite students into their homes for some proper home nosh, comfort and chat!

Who we are…?

We have a dedicated team of committed leaders and their hard work and effort is greatly appreciated. We are from all walks of life and we are here to help you feel that you too are part of the CBC family. You will find us gathered and scattered throughout the church fellowship and obviously in the various aspects of the YASM ministry.
